The ever-increasing importance of protecting Occupational Safety and Health was embodied in the Consolidated Occupational Safety Act: Legislative Decree 81/2008 identifies promoting the culture of prevention as the main strategy. Risk assessment should not be a simple compilation of “prepackaged” templates and checklists, but should originate in a deep technical culture combined with knowledge of work processes. The technical and design experience of the team dedicated to occupational safety is realized in the individual realities.

Legislative Decree 81/2008 with the appointment of a Prevention and Protection Service Manager requires that this figure oversee all occupational health and safety programs. The role of the RSPP

Legislative Decree 81/2008 in Art. 32 defines the figure of the RSPP on the basis of professional skills and requirements: this is an expert in health and safety who can be internal or external to the company, always appointed by the Employer. The same Employer in some cases can serve as RSPP after completing a specific training course.

The activities of the RSPP:

Risk assessment and identification of necessary prevention and protection measures,
Drafting and/or updating the Risk Assessment Document (DVR),
Drafting the emergency plan, emergency plan floor plans and organizing evacuation tests,
Drafting of the Unified Document for the Evaluation of Risks from Interference (DUVRI),

Support in the designation of sensitive figures (such as competent doctor, workers’ safety representative, emergency team members, first aid team members),
Specialized assessments such as:
- lightning risk,
- work-related stress risk,
- Manual handling of loads,
- Risk from exposure from chemical agents,
- Risk arising from explosive atmospheres (ATEX),
- Risk of noise exposure,
- vibration risk,
- electromagnetic risk,
- asbestos,
- FAV (artificial glass fibers), etc,
implementation of
Safety Management Systems
(ISO 50001, UNI-INAIL, National Guidelines),
Identification of training needs and proposal of suitable training paths,
Technical support in case of inspections,
site safety: safety coordinator during design phase (CSP), safety coordinator during execution phase (CSE), safety and coordination plans (PSC), safety operating plans (POS), PIMUS.
